THE COMPANY
Steve Apelt - Company Manager
Steve has worked in the entertainment and theatre business for over 22 years, first in the USA then Europe, performing, teaching drama and arranging events. In 1993 he returned to the UK to take up position as a Redcoat at Butlins. After 3 years treading those particular boards he was on the lookout for a new challenge. After a spell in London working on various T.V shows he returned to his home town of Bridgwater. Steve teamed up with Mark and Su in co-ownership of Blue Moon Theatre Company. Early shows included The Wildest Affair, World in a Box, Grandmother Frost, The Quest of the Pantopottamus as well as Junkbusters plus a large bag-full of rather silly street theatre pieces. Working as company manager Steve was able to secure bookings at major events and festivals from Cardiff to Brighton. As a performer and actor Steve has appeared in various commercials and TV parts; one which will always stick in his mind was spending two weeks in the highlands of Scotland dressed in only animal skins (for The Discovery channel). He currently focuses much of his time event organising and hosting anything from water festivals to music and dance events. He once created a piece of art over 80 meter in diameter! (on a very windy hill). Aside from children’s theatre Steve has a great passion in community arts, promoting play and creating opportunities for young people to participate. He is a trustee of Children's World Charity and a freelance arts worker for @Play charity. He has written the children’s book ‘Wizzy and the Missing Shoelace’ and has a fascinating ambition... to cover 99 hay bales in primary colours in a large field and view it from a hot air balloon above!

Mark Scott-Ison - Script Writer
Mark has worked as a performer for over twenty one years. In plays and pantomimes he has played a huge array of characters. The Marquis of Queensbury, Alfred P Doolittle, Mr. Bumble, kings, dads, insects, puppets, a tree, badgers, bears, wolves and a few times, ladies! He has also written many plays, Ripples, Ghost of a Chance, The Carrot Fiction and many others. He is currently working with illustrator Sue Webber on a series of children's books. In street theatre he has played many roles, including a man from the Ministry of Meaningless Measurement making sure that ladies are not carrying the entire Red Sea or a pixie in their handbags. He has also played a cow, a choir member, a grandad in The Picnic and an athlete in The Olympics (which, when you see that he is a man who casts a larger shadow, is a sight to behold). For our piece 'Trimely On The Marsh Village Fete', Mark becomes Jackson Pillock, who does lightning sketches of the public and once painted the Queen in the nude…until she insisted he put on some clothes! Apart from Mark's performing and writing, he likes nothing better than sitting in the sun and watching the flowers grow and shouting at things that fall on his head.

Christina Smith - Performer
Christina trained at Liverpool Theatre School back in the mid eighties when “Fame” was the big film, and legwarmers, leotards and sweatbands were the gear to be in! During this time, Christina was also a member of ‘Act Inc’ Theatre Company that produced original work and adaptations around her hometown of Liverpool. Christina left Liverpool for the formidable role as a Butlins Redcoat, which she enjoyed for 3 years. Wanting desperately to join the stage crew, she finally became the first female allowed, after proving that her muscles were up to it! After basing herself in Minehead, Christina played the leading role in a short television drama before joining local theatre companies ‘Fat and Thin Productions’ and ‘Image Factory’. She went on to play many roles within these companies, and was part of the cast of the winning play of the One Act Play festival that won the title for the Somerset area. Since joining Blue Moon, Christina has participated in pantomimes, festivals and street theatre, and is looking forward to many more performances in the future.
